The inaugural meeting for the 2026 Small-Scale Cropping Seasonal Cultivation Event was held on 12.03.2026 at the Manmunai West Divisional Secretariat. This event was organized by the Divisional Secretary, Mrs. Sathyanandhi Namasivayam, and held at the Divisional Secretariat Conference Hall under the chairmanship of the Batticaloa District Government Agent, Mr. J. S. Arulraj.
In this meeting, detailed discussions were held on the plans required to successfully carry out 14,324 acres of paddy cultivation in the 2026 small-scale cropping season, guidelines for farmers, irrigation facilities, fertilizer distribution, and many other important issues to improve agricultural production.
Officials from the Central, Provincial Irrigation, Agriculture, and related departments; representatives of banks; representatives of agricultural organizations; Divisional Secretariat officers; and many farmers participated in the event and shared their views.
